In 2005 a group of Danish friends of Gambia, planned a project of a new hotel on the sunny coast of Gambia. The construction started in summer 2006 on a beautiful piece of land directly to the ocean. With great respect to the existing nature and trees, only 5 palm trees were cut down to make space for the buildings. In October 2007 the hotel “LEMON CREEK” welcomed the first guests, a group of special invited guests from Denmark.
At the opening, we had 34 rooms, restaurant, pool area, reception and a small shop. Later we have build more rooms, so now we can offer our guests 56 rooms.
Our philosophy is to run the hotel as a sustainable business. We have invested in a 400m2 solar power installation, which cover a great part of the hotels electrical consumption. This investment was only nature possible with a great support from DANIDA (Denmark’s development corporation).
Our kitchen use local products were ever it is possible and use vegetables from our own kitchen garden, where our guest are very welcome to say hello.
The hotel are still owned by a Danish investors with great support from IFU (Investment fund for developing countries)
Due to the landscape of our hotel and facilities, the area can be difficult to use for disabled and wheel chairs.
Here at Lemon Creek we are like one big family, and that is how we greet you:
With a warm smile and open arms. We can't wait to meet you.
The family consists of one Dane. The rest of us are proud Gambians.
